Which funds are subject to BCL and CSSF reporting requirements in Luxembourg ?
Reporting requirements depend on the type of fund, its structure and its regulatory framework.
In Luxembourg, the following funds may be subject to reporting requirements to the Commission de Surveillance du Secteur Financier (CSSF) :
- UCITS (Undertakings for Collective Investment in Transferable Securities),
- SIFs,
- SICARs.
For example, the U1.1 report is one of the financial reports submitted to the CSSF for several of these fund categories.
The Banque Centrale du Luxembourg (BCL), for its part, collects statistical data from investment funds through the following reports :
- S 1.3,
- S 2.13,
- S 2.20,
- TPT OBS, depending on the fund category and the data concerned.
There is therefore no single reporting requirement applicable to all funds : reporting obligations must be determined based on the type of vehicle and its regulatory framework.
What is the difference between BCL and CSSF reports ?
The reporting requirements of the BCL and CSSF in Luxembourg serve different purposes, even though they may involve data from the same funds.
- The CSSF collects information for the purposes of regulatory supervision of the financial sector.
- The BCL collects data to produce the statistics required for its responsibilities and those of the Eurosystem. It therefore has specific reporting requirements for investment funds.
What are the mandatory BCL and CSSF reporting requirements in Luxembourg ?
Financial reporting requirements in Luxembourg vary depending on the type of fund, its structure, its activities and the rules applicable to it.
- CSSF : the U1.1 report is one of the financial reporting requirements for UCITS, Part II UCIs, SIFs and SICARs.
- BCL : investment funds may be subject to statistical reporting requirements (S 1.3, S 2.13, S 2.20 or TPTOBS).
It is therefore necessary to identify the fund category first to determine which reports are mandatory.
Camele’on automates the preparation of these financial and regulatory reports in Luxembourg, saving companies valuable time while reducing the risk of manual errors.
What are the filing deadlines for BCL and CSSF reports in Luxembourg ?
Deadlines are not the same for all regulatory reporting requirements in Luxembourg. They depend in particular on the report concerned, its frequency and the type of fund.
- The Commission de Surveillance du Secteur Financier (CSSF) sets the submission procedures and deadlines for each reporting requirement. For example, the U1.1 report is monthly and must be submitted within 10 calendar days following the end of the month, via a dedicated eDesk procedure or an API allowing XML file submission.
- The Banque Centrale du Luxembourg (BCL) publishes a specific annual calendar for its various statistical reporting requirements. For example, the S 1.3 and TPTOBS reports relating to July 2026 must be submitted by 28 August 2026 at the latest.
What reporting requirements apply to UCITS and alternative funds in Luxembourg ?
UCITS and alternative investment funds (AIFs) may be subject to several reporting requirements in Luxembourg, but these requirements are not the same for all vehicles.
- UCITS funds : certain financial and regulatory reports are submitted to the CSSF, including the U1.1 report, depending on the applicable requirements.
- Alternative investment funds : they are subject to reporting requirements depending on their structure, legal framework and, where applicable, their manager. For example, BCL statistical reporting requirements vary depending on the fund category.
